Encompass Housing Awarded $3 Million Grant to Expand Transitional Housing for Veterans

Long Beach, CA - March 10, 2026

Encompass Housing is proud to announce that it has been awarded a five-year grant totaling just over $3 million to expand transitional housing and supportive services for veterans in partnership with the VA Long Beach Healthcare System.

Through this partnership, Encompass Housing will provide transitional housing and stabilization services for veterans experiencing homelessness across Long Beach and Orange County. The program will be based at the Community Care Campus Long Beach, where veterans will have access to a safe and supportive environment while they work toward permanent housing and stability.

The program is designed to help veterans successfully transition back into civilian life by connecting them with veteran-specific resources, case management, and healthcare support through the VA. Participants will also receive assistance navigating the HUD-VASH program, which provides housing vouchers and ongoing supportive services to help veterans secure permanent housing.

“We are honored to partner with the Long Beach VA to expand critical housing support for veterans in our community,” said Deby Wolford, Executive Director of Encompass Housing. “This funding allows us to provide not only a safe place to stay, but the resources and guidance veterans need to rebuild stability and move into permanent housing.”

Veterans enrolled in the program will stay at the Community Care Campus while receiving individualized support from Encompass Housing staff and VA partners. During their stay, participants will work toward long-term housing solutions, connect with healthcare and benefits, and access services designed specifically to meet the needs of those who have served.

In addition to the on-site program, Encompass Housing will collaborate with local organizations and outreach teams throughout Long Beach and Orange County to ensure veterans experiencing homelessness are aware of and able to access this housing opportunity.

This investment represents a significant step forward in addressing veteran homelessness in the region and reflects the ongoing commitment of Encompass Housing and its partners to ensure that those who served our country have access to safe housing and the support needed to thrive.
